Medieval Knight and lady on horseback for entertainment and theatre

Welcome, if you’ve just arrived from Facebook then you have reached our blog site where we keep everyone updated with the latest news from The Cavalry of Heroes.  Feel free to continue reading or head over to our main site for more details about hiring Knights and Ladies on horseback.

Just another day at the office!  Both Marc and I are  always so happy the minute that we get to perform, whether it be raising money at a charity event or being the meet and greet at a wedding.   So we started The Cavalry of Heroes, to provide a source of fun entertainment on horseback across the Three Counties and Wales.

We have recently been booked for a Pirate Charity Event, as well as an All The Fun of the Fayre Circus Style Advertising Campaign promoting tickets to an upcoming Awards Show and a History Re-enactment of the Battle of Agincourt.    Photos of all these to follow shortly as well as the variety of costumes that we have for both our riders and horses.

Requests for additional costumes and appearances can be accommodated and prices start from just £60 per day plus travel.  Contact us to book or for more information or see our main page.

We’re official! The Cavalry Riding School is now OPEN

Your chance to ride our stunning horses, including Andalusians and Freisians, with instruction from Marc Lovatt.

To celebrate – the next 10 people to book can have their first lesson for just £25!

We are a fully licenced and insured Riding School providing friendly and constructive lessons allowing you time to improve your riding ability and skill.  Based near Hay-on-Wye, we cater only for adults (16+) and our lessons are purely one-on-one with BHS Qualified Marc Lovatt.   Providing you with exceptional riding tuition on well-trained horses including Andalusians and Friesians.  Perfect for those who want to further enhance their riding ability to the next level.

Equally we offer lessons for adult beginners who can experience the joy of a well schooled horse to learn on without pressure and without being surrounded by a cluster of kids, which some can find a little intimidating.

Also really beneficial to those of you thinking of getting back into the saddle but don’t want to start from scratch again.  We offer an Introductory Session to get you back in the saddle with an hour of one-to-one instruction from Marc Lovatt, who’s friendly, un-pressured and non-judgemental approach will get you back in the saddle and loving riding again like you used to.  His sense of humour breaks down those awkward ‘not-quite-perfect’ moments and our horses are well trained to understand that you might be a little nervous.

Confidence boosting, our lessons are conducted in our secure, flood lit school either on our own horses, or you can bring your own horse.  When bringing your own horse, Marc will work with you to develop the partnership between you and your horse.

Membership is also available to the Cavalry Riding Club, offering discounted lessons, preferential booking, structured training records, hacking out and much more…  All for just £25 per year.

See you soon!

Latest Wedding Photoshoot – Hampton Court Castle

It was such a privilege to be involved recently in the Fairytale Luxe Photoshoot, taking part in one of the most stunning venues I can imagine: Hampton Court Castle in Hope-Under-Dinmore.  Organised by Diva Wedding and Events: the photographer on the day was Martha May showing as always her exceptional talent in capturing the perfect moment.   I’m sure you will agree that the dresses (Ashton Rose Bridal Centre),  suits (Bill Child Formal Wear) hair (Amy Bemand Hairdressing), make-up (Natasha Louise), accessories (Mason Blue Designs and Pleasance and Harper) and venue look mesmerising.  Below is just a small sample of the excellent photos from the day which featured our lovely Asgard and Curioso Maximus.

Curioso is booked for his next photoshoot this month and the other boys are starting to get a bit jealous.  So look out for our Medieval Photoshoot staring our very own Guinness – coming soon!

Wedding Fayres – loved by brides, grooms, families and exhibitors

After a wonderfully successful time at Burgoynes Wedding Fayre this year, I thought I would dedicate this entry to the marvellous work that Wedding Fayre organisers do in order to provide brides and local businesses alike with a valuable resource.

Before getting married last year, I attended several wedding fayres in Hereford and the surrounding area.  I found it invaluable, picking up great ideas for my table centres and ended up booking my florist, hair stylist and make-up artist after seeing their wonderful work first hand. Similarly, I found suppliers who really added that extra nice treat to my big day – people like Ashley McMath from ‘With Love from Bobbin’, whose lace shoe clips added a lovely final touch  on my day.

Munstone House Wedding Fayre

So it was interesting to attend a couple of wedding fayres this year as an exhibitor. We took the horses Curioso and Asgard to each fayre and they performed brilliantly; being not only photogenic but patient as they made friends with over 90 brides.  It was great to speak with brides (and grooms) and find out all their exciting plans for their big days and to meet with other local suppliers.   The hospitality of the staff on the day, and organisation, also made each fayre a pleasure to be a part of.

Shoe Clips

As such, for all the brides reading this, if you can, try and make it to at least one fayre, you never know what you might find!  And if you are around this weekend, come and meet Curioso and Asgard at The Munstone House Wedding Fayre, run by Diva Events on Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd March 2015, where we will also be happy to chat with you about providing you with a beautiful horse drawn carriage to use on your big day. Or perhaps a royal arrival on horseback, escorted by Knights!

How much attention do you get when driving a horse and carriage?

The answer is probably more than you ever get driving anything else – except maybe a zebra (yes, someone – not us – has put a zebra in harness!). Positive comments come from all directions and the feeling of driving a horse in a competition or simply for a jaunt down the country lanes to the pub is exhilarating and time well spent in our opinion. Driving is great for those who are no longer able (or willing!) to get onto the back of a horse but still want to enjoy achieving a new relationship with horses.  Here at The Cavalry of Heroes, Marc Lovatt teaches both people and horses to drive a carriage.
