First Stop on the European Tour – Medieval Jousting Stunt Show at Flavours of Fingal Show, Ireland

It sounds like the start of a really good joke… what do you get when Four Knights, Three Squires, Four Horses and One Princess travel to Ireland?

The Answer:  An absolutely brilliant Medieval Jousting Horse Stunt Show at a remarkable event – The Flavour of Fingal, Country Show, Ireland.

With wonderful hospitality from this great show,  a very enthusiastic audience and the sun shining the whole weekend, a marvellous time was had by all who came with us and saw us at this fantastic show.

Sir Lancelot made his first appearance with The Cavalry of Heroes and smashed it, riding Curioso Maximus, our white Andalusian Stallion.  He got two good strikes in against Sir Agravaine, but in a twist of fate received two knockout blows from our Dark Knight Lord Pendragon.  It looked like all was lost for our Golden Knight and Sir Lancelot until a sword fight ensued with a hilarious outcome.

Lots of trick riding and horse stunts including Roman Riding and falls were seen in this full on show.  The Knights even having a tete-a-tete with some Vikings.  All in all a really memorable weekend. And of course, the real stars of our show, our horses, Guinness (how could we not take the sweetest Irish Cob on a visit back to Ireland), Curioso Maximus, Harry and Apollo.  They were such wonderful boys for the whole trip, performing like the true stars they are.Our biggest thank you to our amazing team who made the whole show such a success and which still brings smiles to all those who attended.  A big thank you as well to the show organisers who put on such a splendid free event – long may it continue!

Please enjoy some of the lovely images taken by the very talented Lisa Lucas, our official photographer, and if you have any images of your own from this great show then please share them with us on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter by tagging @cavalryofheroes as we’d love to see them, and our Knights love responding to fan mail.

Take care all and we’ll see you really soon at our next show in four days time.

Sulgrave Manor - Medieval Tudor Wedding - Jousting Tournament with The Cavalry of Heroes - Thumbs down for the Dark Knight

Nothing as Sweet as a Beautiful Medieval Wedding Day at Sulgrave Manor

Love was in the air last weekend at dreamy Sulgrave Manor.  It was like being in a fairy-tale all weekend, as two Knights on horseback jousted in celebration of a Wedding Day, in this fabulously themed event.  Visitors were officially welcomed to the event by the Mayor with his Knights as his guards of honour.  There was so much going on and so well thought out that the day was just beautiful.

The Knights performed under the trees in the romantic back garden and met with lots of adoring fans, including many dressed up as Knights and Princesses themselves.  It was our Golden Knight who jousted against Sir Edwin (the Groom) in this joyful show before the Dark Knight made his appearance just as the skies darkened.

But there was no rain on this wedding day (except The Dark Knight getting his just desserts!) just glorious sunshine and lots of happy faces.

I’m still smiling over such a beautiful day.  Thank you to the lovely organisers who made us feel so at home, to the local fish and chip shop for such a splendid meal and the medieval re-enactors who bought the venue alive.  And a big congratulations also to the couple who got married at the pub down the road the night before!  Big smiles all round.

Jousting at Berkeley Castle

That was so much fun!  Once again a brilliant time had by all at the Berkeley Castle May Day Jousting, and with his Majesty King Henry VIII presiding over matters, our champions couldn’t afford to make any mistakes.

Everyone remembered the remarkable Sir William, our Golden Knight (Champion of the Tournament last year having beat King Louis of France in the final joust) and he didn’t disappoint, with more tricks than ever before, he was looking sure to win again this year on his beautiful black Friesian stallion Asgard.

Sir Robert, riding his trusted steed (Guinness) put up a good fight in the morning and was only narrowly bested by Sir William.

AND THEN….

To the horror of the wonderful Berkeley crowds, there he was, Sir William, captured by The Dark Knight, and forced to ride with him onto the castle lawns.  It was lucky that Sir Robert had stayed behind to help him!

This was The Dark Knight’s first appearance at Berkeley Castle and he bought with him ominous black thunder clouds in a fitting tribute to his dark mood for the last show, but we were delighted to see the cheering on of Sir William from a wonderful crowd who stayed with us until the end.

Even in the rain, nothing can dampen the spirit and enthusiasm of The Cavalry of Heroes!

Thanks again to the wonderful team at Berkeley Castle for putting on such a lovely family event.

The Golden Knight Sir William Celebrating his Victory over Sir Baldric by Roman Riding in the Sudeley Medieval Easter Jousting Tournament

Smashing Lances and Visitor Records at Sudeley Castle Easter Joust 2017

What a day!  Easter Sunday saw four of our Knights descend on Sudeley castle to battle it out in our first joust of the season.  The Dark Knight was in full form and the horses ready to show off their new tricks learnt over their winter training.  His Majesty King Henry VIII was also in attendance giving his royal seal of approval on the proceedings and taunting his arch nemesis The Dark Knight.

Not only did lances get smashed but so did visitor records with thousands turning up to visit the castle and cheer on the jousting despite the rain in the afternoon!  A wonderful feature then appeared in the Gloucestershire Echo, the next day: Thrills and Spills in the Joust, much to the delight of Golden Knight as his hair took centre stage and so did our beautiful Friesian Stallion Asgard with his equally long flowing mane.

We have some beautifully epic shots from the talented Stroud Camera Club capturing the concentration of our Golden Knight Sir William as well as Sir Balric and King Louis as they prepare themselves for the competition.

With cheering crowds and lots of chance for the Knights to meet their fans and visitors, great fun was had by all. The Knights thoroughly enjoyed camping in the shadow of the castle and experience the ghostly goings on.  We even had a friendly peacock stop by to say hello.

Thanks to everyone who was a part of the day including the excellent team at Sudeley Castle, Sian, Kim and the volunteers who made the day such a success and so atmospheric. We couldn’t have wish for a better start to the year.
