Lady Lancelot travels back to The Emerald Isle for some Medieval Jousting!

The full to bursting extravaganza that was The Flavours of Fingal Country Show, near Dublin in Ireland, was a roaring success this year with more visitors than ever. Helped by the glorious sunshine and cheerful crowds we were delighted to be returning for a second year and performing our Medieval Jousting Main Arena Display.

This is the only show in Ireland this year where you could see our display which made it extra special. With an avid marketing campaign from ourselves and Fingal County Council, including teaser trailers, a lot of visitors said that they had come specifically to see our Knights on Horseback, which meant large crowds for our second day of performances.

Travelling over on the ferry was a laugh for our team as we sailed across the Irish Sea from our home in Wales. The horses were superstars and travelled perfectly in the lorry. We took with us Curioso Maximus (our Andalusian Stallion), Guinness (our Irish Cob) and our two Appaloosa brothers Harry and Apollo.

When we arrived, we had an area set up for us but didn’t have any water or hay (the organisers were understandably flat out) but when they found out they were so helpful and everything got sorted really quickly. Sorting it did involve rolling a large bale of hay across the Newbridge House parkland resulting in a lot of laughter!

Lady Lancelot, was a firm favourite this year, as we changed up her colours to match her heritage. Our talented Rachel, who plays Lady Lancelot, has family in the county of Wexford, Ireland and it was a lovely a homecoming for her to perform in Ireland.

We were joined by new neighbours this year with an extended equestrian element to the Flavours of Fingal Country Show. It was a spectacle to see the inter-hunt relay in our downtime and there was some very impressive show jumping.  Plus lots of entertainment was provided by the horses getting loose from the equestrian ring! We caught so many of them as they ran over to see our boys who were all as good as gold in their paddocks. It made us appreciate them even more, our superstar horses, who are every inch the professional and very much loved.

And a big thank-you to everyone who was a part of the day including the excellent team at The Flavours of Fingal Country Show and the volunteers who made the day such a success and so atmospheric. We couldn’t have wish for a better stay over in Ireland

“Went to the show today, missed it last year but been there a good few years previous – wow, it’s got huge!!! Just keeps getting better and better.  The knights on horses and 50 vikings having sword fights at front of house were the big highlight, brilliant!!  Julie McPartlan, Visitor at Flavour of Fingal Country Show
