Sudeley Castle Easter Joust 2018 with Six Horses, Four Knights and Two Kings

by | Apr 5, 2018 | Equestrian Displays, Knights on Horseback, Medieval Jousting Displays

Amazing day at Sudeley Castle Easter Joust and we were delighted to be back! A big thank you to the wonderful Cheltenham and international crowd who turned out en-mass despite the somewhat muddy conditions and were treated to an extra special event this year.

As a reward for everyone braving the weather The Cavalry of Heroes put on an action packed six horse medieval Jousting Display featuring our two Kings and their stunning steeds Pegasus (Andalusian) and D’artagnon (Friesian Stallion) fighting it out with the help of their Knights to be crowned champion.

With lots of cheering and laughter for both sides, the horses stole our hearts away with the Knights and Kings following a close second.

The horses were in matching pairs, with two blacks, two greys and two spotty appaloosas, these boys really did us proud performing beautifully thanks to their amazing temperaments and the wonderful training given to them by our very talented horse trainer and rider Marc Lovatt. Not a day goes by when he isn’t making sure that the horses are as happy and as healthy as can be and it really shows.

This show also saw the Jousting debut of our beautiful two horses Pegasus and D’artagnon and despite rain, rain and more rain during our set up and rehearsal leading to soaking wet muddy fields it stayed nice and dry through-out our performances.

The team was outstanding as we faced very wet conditions but everyone remained positive and energetic (which may have something to do with the numerous Lindt chocolate Easter bunnies which we hid around the camp for everyone to find).

Some of you might remember the infamous Sudeley peacock from last year who made his presence known to all. Well this year, we’re pleased to say we saw him again and he was his usual delightful self! In case you missed it there are photos of him on our Instagram page.

All the horses were fast asleep in their lovely warm and dry stables this morning when we went to feed them and have spent a day happily munching the first of the spring grass in the field today. So lucky to have these boys in our lives. This month we will be running features on each of our boys via our Facebook and Instagram pages so do check them out to find out more about our very special beautiful horses.

And a big thank-you to everyone who was a part of the day including the excellent team at Sudeley Castle and the volunteers who made the day such a success and so atmospheric. Despite the rain, fun was had by all 🙂
