Auditions

Love what we do? Would you like to join us? We’re holding auditions this February for Trainee Knights, Squires and Medieval Ladies to work with us in our 2017 shows and beyond.

These are for live performance equestrian stunt displays across the country so for all positions the following is a must:

  • Understanding and experience of working with horses
  • Excellent common sense
  • Be reliable with good time keeping
  • Ability to travel to our HQ near Hay-on-Wye, Herefordshire
  • Get on well with people and have fun!

In particular we are looking for people who would like to become Trainee Knights, Squires or part of our Medieval Court.  More details on each of these can be found below:

Trainee Knights

Each year we take on a Trainee Knight to be a part of our team to learn to joust, sword fight and perform in our shows.  Depending on your riding ability the aim will be for you to be riding as a Knight in one of our shows by the end of the year and until then, learning the ropes by helping the current Knights in our live shows.

With this is mind, the following are a must:

  • Excellent riding skills and for our horses a deep seat (classical riding) is highly beneficial
  • Be entertaining and flourish when performing in front of an audience

Squires

Squires are vital for helping our shows run smoothly, you are the co-ordinators extraordinaire on the ground and the Knights rely on you to make sure that they have the right equipment at the right time and to get the crowds cheering for them during the live performances.  Not only this but you are essential in the looking after of the horses before and after shows.

As such a confidence around horses is a must (including handling stallions), as well as a good eye for detail, a hands on attitude and being organised would all be very helpful.

Members of our Medieval Court

It’s not just our Knights that draw attention at our shows, it our wonderful supporting cast of our Medieval Court.  In particular this year we are looking for Tudor Ladies to stay in character on show days, meeting and greeting with visitors and telling people about life as a Lady in Medieval Times.

As part of our Medieval Court you will need to be happy in front of a crowd and talking to people of all ages.  Costume is provided along with some script about life in medieval times to help you to begin with.
